Vietnam has been nothing short of amazing! The energy here is infectious, and pickleball is thriving. The opening ceremony set the tone for an unforgettable experience, featuring cheerleaders, player tunnels, MCs, and sold-out VIP sections—an incredible turnout despite the rain! The passion for pickleball here is palpable, and it’s inspiring to see how much excitement surrounds the sport.

Yesterday featured intense singles competition. While I opted out of singles, Ryler took on the challenging men’s singles field. Singles is the marquee event in Asia, showcasing the incredible athleticism and talent of the players. Ryler’s matches were electrifying, and he pulled off an incredible comeback, saving three match points to secure a spot in Saturday’s semifinals.

Off the court, I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with the Franklin family Vietnam. They treated us to a wonderful dinner, highlighting the global impact of the Franklin brand and their commitment to growing the sport worldwide.

The weather here is intense! With high humidity, I’ve been rotating paddles to keep up with the sweaty grips and switching shoes to stay comfortable. It’s a challenge, but it adds to the adventure of playing in this tropical environment.

Today, I’m thrilled to kick off women’s doubles with my partner, Yuchieh Hsieh from Taipei. We’re ready to give it our all in our 5 PM match. Let’s see where this journey takes us!

Stay tuned for more updates from Vietnam!
