MLP Weekend: From Bottom of the League to the Top Seed of the Playoffs

Clinching the #1 seed and an automatic promotion to next season’s Premier League felt incredible! When I joined the Chicago team in July, they were at the bottom of the league. Still, I saw the potential for something great, and I’m thrilled to have helped spark the team’s fire on this journey.

This weekend, our mission was clear: rack up enough points to earn a bye next weekend and avoid the Dallas playoffs. Allison and I had some extra motivation, too—keeping Halloween plans with our kids! Thanks to our team’s incredible effort, we got the job done and secured our spot in the playoffs’ semifinals on November 21 in Lake Nona, Orlando.

For a little post-game celebration, we embraced a Chicago tradition with a shot of Malört—though, of course, we kept our youngest teammate on the team-friendly side with a Gatorade toast.

Meanwhile, Across the Country…

While we were clinching the top seed, Ryler and the kids were in Newport Beach at the APP. JR battled to earn bronze in men’s doubles, Lily took bronze in women’s singles, and together they grabbed bronze in mixed doubles. Ryler had some intense close matches in men’s doubles, finishing in the top 8. They’re catching a red-eye back to Florida tonight, so I’ll be picking them up in Orlando in the morning.

A Glimpse of the Future

On my way to Orlando, I stopped by “The Fort,” Fort Lauderdale’s soon-to-open facility. The layout is perfectly designed for hosting major events, and I can’t wait to see it in action. Stay tuned for more exciting news!

And did I mention we’re off next weekend? Can’t wait! Now it’s time to work on Halloween costumes for the fam. Here’s a picture of last year’s costumes:
