Pickleball has become more than just a sport for my family; it’s a vessel for our journey together. While I love the game, I’m constantly reminded that the big picture is far greater. Traveling together as a family, seeing places like the Great Wall of China, has been priceless. Each stop on this journey isn’t just about competition; it’s about the memories we create along the way.
A few weeks ago, I had the joy of sharing this experience with my mom. Growing up, she took me all over Europe for tennis tournaments. Now, it was her turn to come along for a pickleball tournament—this time, at a spot that had long been on her bucket list: New York City. After playing matches in Central Park, we made sure to take in the city’s highlights, from watching Wicked on Broadway to indulging in classic lox bagels. We visited the 9/11 memorial and braved the crowds in Times Square.
These moments with my mom are what make this journey so special. Pickleball brought us to NYC, but it’s the time spent together that I’ll cherish most.
