After a year of professional pickleball, our family—two young kids in tow—was worn out. The constant cycle of hotels, flights, taxis, and rental cars took a toll on us. We’d barely get back to our home in Florida before it was time to do laundry, repack, and hit the road again. The lifestyle wasn’t sustainable, and it was hard to find a sense of home amidst the chaos.
One day, I found myself chatting with friends who had an RV. They spoke about the freedom and flexibility it offered, and a seed was planted. I started to see the possibilities of a life on the road. Ryler, however, was hesitant at first. The idea of living in a small RV with two kids and two dogs seemed daunting. But as 2022 came to a close, we decided to at least explore the option. We went to look at some small RVs that might fit our lifestyle, and to our surprise, we found one that felt right.
The next three months were a trial period, living part-time in the RV to see if this new way of life was feasible. We traveled, played pickleball, and adapted to our new surroundings. By the end of those three months, we were sold. We called the Salvation Army, donated nearly everything from our Florida home, and fully embraced RV life. Now, we’re on the road full-time, with no regrets. It’s just us, the kids, the dogs, and a whole lot of pickleball—making memories we’ll cherish forever.
